"STANZ is a low cost way to learn how to trade shares, forex or even commodities and network with like minded people"

Andrew Gibbs - President

We welcome all traders and investors

STANZ is an incorporated non-profit society providing learning opportunities for individual traders and investors who wish to manage their own funds whether it be foreign exchange (forex), shares and CFDs (Contracts for Difference), futures and commodities. We believe technical analysis or a combination of technical and fundamental analysis can help traders and investors understand more about timing their trading and investment decisions.

Notice of 18th JUNE Meeting 2014  – Alan Clement!

You’re invited to come along to the STANZ June Meeting held at the Epsom Community Centre, 200-206 Gillies Avenue, Auckland at 7.30pm on Wednesday 18 June 2014.

Trading System Design: A Practical Guide

Speaker

Alan Clement

Quantitative Trading System Designer
Trading System Design: A Practical Guide

What makes a good trading system?  How do we know if one entry or exit is better than another?  How do we come up with a trading system that suits our personality and lifestyle, and meets our trading objectives?  In this practical guide to trading system development, Alan will outline the process of investigating, testing and quantifying trading ideas and point out some of the pitfalls typically made along the way. He will demonstrate the role skill and luck play in trading, and will show why some entries and exits work better than others.  He’ll also discuss why just getting the market direction right is not enough to make consistent gains over the long run, and round off with a demonstration of designing a fully exposed system with real edge in the market.  If you want to find out how your current system stacks up, or are on the lookout for a better system, then Alan will highlight the steps to take and show some of the tools available to you.

Alan Clement is a Certified Financial Technician, full time independent trader, quantitative trading systems designer, and private trading consultant.  He trades a variety of domestic and international markets and instrument types using self-designed quantitative systems with high risk-adjusted returns.  He is also a councillor with the ATAA and has written for the technical analysis column in the Fairfax press.  You can follow his market analysis and trading Insights at www.helixtrader.com
